A research vessel pierces the clouds, leaving Earth's atmosphere to embark on an extended survey mission. Things change quickly when the ship encounters a storm that should not be. The crew detects a signal as they pass by Jupiter, causing a change of plan. They enter suspended animation and begin a journey to investigate the source of the signal.
But no plan survives first contact.
Transmissions is the debut album by 212º, a duo formed of Tim Gardner (Thirst And The Cow) and Marc Pelath (The Laconic). Originally conceived by Tim as a set of ambient pieces with contributions from Marc, it evolved into a collaboration of composed improvisations and improvised compositions that is more than the sum of its parts. Ambient and epic. Experimental and familiar. Beautiful and brutal and wonderful. Inspired and influenced by King Crimson, Brian Eno, Aphex Twin, Markus Reuter, Steve Reich, Phillip Glass, John Carpenter, and science fiction movies and novels.
