After Antimatter combined cinematic electronica with relaxed guitar melodies on their debut "Saviour" (2002), "Lights Out" is a considerably darker, more oppressive, more melancholic, but also more intimate work by Mick Moss and Duncan Patterson, before they are going to turn into a largely acoustic affair on their next release "Planetary Confinement" (2005).

All along, Antimatter has stood for reflective, melancholic music that is better defined by Mick Moss' charismatic vocals and an emotional undertone than by any stylistic pigeon-holing or mind-cuffs. When Moss continued Antimatter as a solo project after Duncan Patterson left the band in 2006, he was able to maintain the project's characteristic sound and even introduce dark Rock components.
