In times of deep loss, perhaps the only response I can offer as a creative is to create. This is the path I took in this EP. Through this release, I am continuing exploring Nu Jazz while reflecting on Identity.

The EP is a rich blend of melodies, chants and harmonies, highlighting my signature vocal arrangements. The title track, Tsela, features poet and fellow band member Flex of He & I. Phomolo's spoken-word performance reckons with his historical background before deftly addressing the nuanced challenges faced by everyday South Africans His reflections, while simply presented, are imbued with the depth and layered essence of Sesotho storytelling.

The EP also offers a soulful remix by deep house DJ 2SMAN and a mellow stripped down version.

Tsela, meaning "path" - symbolizes a transition, a musical journey from Introspection to the celebration of life. With Tsela, I reaffirm my ability to blend modern jazz with African traditions, offering a sound that invites both deep refection and joyful expression.

Bongani Givethanks an all-round spiritual musician with an experimental approach to the concept of music. Self taught Pianist fuelled with passion and hidden talent for the arts he later expanded into other musical spectrums such as sound designing and music production. Vocalist, Composer, Songwriter & Band leader are some of the terms one can use to describe Bongani GiveThanks.
