Existing in a slipstream between the hedonism of Chicago house, the rusted futurism of Detroit techno, and the uptempo D.I.Y exuberance of outernational electro-boogie, Single Beat Combinations kicks off with the percussive soul of ‘Brainstorm,’ Champion’s collaboration with fellow Aotearoa New Zealand crooner Mara TK (vocal and instrumental mixes). The b-side takes in two hypnotic, time-warping slabs of body music, ‘Don’t Stand Alone’ and ‘808 Brooklyn’
