APEAK - Grey Skies

"Nowhere can I find a blank canvas, all places are corrupted by my mere existence."

In the shadows of a bleak urban landscape, a towering and slender figure slithers just out of reach of streetlights. A face obscured by a balaclava, not to intimidate, but to camouflage. Both ahead and behind are stroboscopic moments of blissful inebriation and the inevitable fall from grace. Each night reminiscent of the last, of the next. Each night giving just enough to keep retracing steps, just enough to make up for all that cannot be recalled the next day.

‘Grey Skies’ sees Helsinki-based producer APEAK mesh his signature icy aesthetic with more techno influenced elements, presenting a club-ready escapade of elastic drums ricocheting in the midst of bellowing, hibernate synths and disembodied synthesised voices. The title tracks feature Franco-Serbian artist WTNS, whose serene vocals serve as a requiem for the city's monochrome atmosphere, while on the anthemic centrepiece, Stockholm-based vocalist Deadvoss avoids the dangers of “killer beams” with the aid of mind-altering substances.

Known for his icy and atmospheric sounds, APEAK is a part of the Changeless label and has released two projects 'Grey Skies' & 'Empyrean' in 2020 under it.

Alongside Exploited Body, APEAK remixed Posh Isolation and Northern Electronics affiliate Varg²™'s "Placing My Iphone X Facing up to See When U Answer My Texts” from his album 'Crush' in 2019.
