I am happy to present to you my latest 9-track original album, “The Mother Rune”, my musical journey of the past year. I have already had the pleasure of playing these tracks at festivals across North America this summer, and I hope you enjoy dancing to them as much I enjoy drumming!
The “Mother Rune” is Hagall , a symbol from the Younger Futhark (a medieval Norse alphabet). Its elemental six-pointed shape (like the “Seed of Life” figure of sacred geometry) contains the seed of all the other rune forms. Literally meaning “hail”, it has the dual meaning of a crisis and new beginnings - a perfectly formed snowflake that emerges from a whirling storm, a cold grain from the sky that melts into nourishing water.
Autumnal Equinox blessings - enjoy!
Scott Sterling weaves a web of percussive rhythm, melody, and line. Framedrums, tambourines, and low whistles mingle with bass beats and ethereal atmospheres, bringing the Celtic and British Islands traditional music into vital contemporary expression.
