Subway Subconscious
Having first recorded electronic music together under the name ManSeries, this initial partnership, which was minimal in form and structure, began whilst Brian O'Malley and Aidan Casserly were still at school.
Inspired by the resurgence and renewed interest in this early, minimal form of electronic music, in 2013 they once again came together to record minimal electronic music as KuBO.
Fuelled in their youth by a fascination with Science Fiction, Avant-Garde Cinema, Alienation and . . . Vampires, those original inspirations are once again at the centre of these very first KuBO recordings.
Come to My Disco, the first original ManSeries track they ever recorded back in their school days - performed live in their living room using a Juno 60, a sequencer and an 808 - was reinvented as the first KuBO recording, and can be heard in its modern form on this EP.
Recorded over a 3 week period in late 2013, these 4 tracks, presented together for the first time by Manufactured Desire, informed the sound KuBO continue to make - A synthetic landscape of brooding, melodic, minimal electronica, with the focus on a pure and deliberate exploration of synthetic sound and evocative vocal melody.
Included on the EP are 4 remixes from 4 of Irelands finest electronic artists - Le Cliche, Circuit3, Glass Dancer and Embrace the Crisis.
The cassette edition is a black shell tape in a yellow cassette box.
The special Black Box Edition, housed in a VHS case, includes a second cassette featuring a remix from Thotbott as well as some rare tracks and mixes, most of which have never before been released on a physical format.
