Yet another Geof Whitely Project release that is worth a place in anybody’s collection. Power, grace & melody all wrapped into eleven tracks of pure class.
Everything you’d expect from Geof Whitely Project, Desolation Angel erupts with cascading keys and soaring guitar an opening track to savour.
Down to the quieter side of Geof Whitely Project for Devils Teardrop. Slower pace but no lack of depth and poise for this one.
Shaman rolls all of the well known Geof Whitely traits into a dramatic, melodic romp with interesting use of guitar and tubular bells, linked with vocal interactions that keep you on our toes while pulling you into the world of the Shaman.
The Oath is broods a little more but still delivers a real tune with melody and power telling a tale you may find familiar, or does it?
OK, so you get the picture, this is another classic slice of progressively influenced rock, with all the ingredients that make Geof Whitely Project albums worth a place on any CD shelf.
There is one ‘surprise’, Jigsaw could be mistaken for a three-minute pop song, but listen carefully, all the influences and traits are still there, but it would be a great single in a world that actually appreciated real music!
Mercy On Me brings in some interesting orchestration, well worth a listen.
The album doesn’t have any ‘filler’ each track has merit and deserves its place on the album.
