The Caledonian quadrilles originated in about 1823 using quadrille steps but danced to Scottish airs. Many of the original arrangements used 8 bar phrases of different Scottish tunes in each quadrille which makes the music feel very choppy. We decided to record using sets of pipe tunes, one tune for each quadrille. There are various instructions depending on the arranger, some use mostly first set, some have new figures.

Cas, Ian and Meryl have played together for over 40 years for English and Scottish country dance, ceilidh dancing and later for historical dance events,

We do a lot of research into historical dance music and are continually finding new dances to introduce into the dancing repertoire.

We always have great fun playing and hope this is communicated to the audience, be it dancers or spectators.
