I wrote this poem when I was walking one night in July. I came to a moist meadow, and suddenly I saw something shining in the grass. It was Platanthera bifolia, a white orchid that smells wonderful at night. There is something mystical about this plant, which looks so fragile, but is so alive when darkness falls. It immediately gave me inspiration to write what might be called a harvest song.

Grift’s ambition is to evoke the mood some people are in great need of; the mood you can’t express through other mediums than music, images, and in some cases even through words. This kind of escapism is about breaking the chains of everyday given norms, and for a short moment becoming a stranger lost in a state of uncertain homelessness.
