'A Degree Of Murder' - Train Station Scene, Sitar

Our tribute to the Brian Jones' 'Mord Und Totschalg / A Degree of Murder' soundtrack. The 1967 German film starring Anita Pallenberg.

A couple of years ago, we were asked to contribute 3 tracks to an album of current artists re-recording the soundtrack. The brief was to cover the songs as they appear in the film, then expand it into something of our own.

We don't know if that album will ever see the light of day, so we're sharing our work from it with you. The soundtrack is considered Brian's only completed solo work - even though it took Keith Richards and Jimmy Page to help get it done - but we're told the master tapes have since been lost or destroyed.

'Sitar - Train Station Scene' is the first of those 3 tracks.

The opening 25-30 seconds are recorded as per the scene in the movie (which we’ve included for you to hear). Hence, the weird tuning, discordant notes, wild reverb and zingy sitar tone as if you're in a vast, busy train station with high ceilings and brick walls. After that, it opens out into a complimentary composition of our own.

We hope you enjoy it, and that Brian would have approved.
