Light Dancer is about self-decay, self-acceptance, & dances under the full moon.

The album was largely inspired by moving to the Pacific Northwest, and in doing so becoming fully exposed to the Chinese half of my heritage. I found myself influenced by the aesthetics of traditional Chinese art in its creation. Many sounds on the album were recorded while hiking on the west coast, wrapped in a blanket of ocean mist - soundtracking and coalescing into a heightened and renewed sense of identity. I had been dreaming of writing vocal oriented music for years, but my health held me back until I was finally able to receive surgery to resolve my respiratory illnesses. I’m thankful to say that Light Dancer is the first project to feature tracks with my voice as a focal point. In tandem with communing with my heritage, I became reacquainted with many instruments from my youth, and used my late uncle’s guitar, small world instruments gifted from my dad, and most notably my beloved upright bass to form the album's architecture.
