In the first human flight to Mars, a crew of five astronauts is halfway between Earth and Mars. They have lost contact with Earth and are alone in their silence. "Alert" the computer blares. Something has rocked the ship, which is now off course. A blinding purple light encompasses them. Astronaut Mae Dwight looks around at her four crew members who are now dead. Before she has time to speak, she hears the ship being torn apart. She closes her eyes, ready to die . . . Beyond the Beyond is a progressive rock space opera. The mostly instrumental music harkens back to classic Genesis, Kansas, Yes and Camel. The album features a five-movement 27-minute epic song in part drawing on Mars, Bringer of War by Gustav Holst.
