These tracks are all based on recordings made with a Zoom H4, along a stretch of coastline on the Solway Firth, between September and November 2021. Returning to a similar spot on numerous occasions, I captured a whole range of sounds: birds, animals, water, jet fighters and driftwood being chainsawed into manageable sections. Every walk along this stretch of coast revealed and ever changing audio environment. The one constant is the sound of the sea.
These recordings were then processed, made into tape loops, played back through a variety of effects pedals and used as raw audio to be further processed with eurorack granular samplers and resonators.
The cover photo shows the Solway Firth at low tide, with the Scottish Coast in the near distance.
