LOS ANGELES RISING

A compilation of music benefitting the SWEET RELIEF Musicians Fund and their work supporting artists and music professionals who have lost their homes and instruments in the Los Angeles fires.

Musician Kevin Haskins (Love and Rockets, Bauhaus), Record producer Nick Launay (Nick Cave, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, IDLES) came together after witnessing the destruction of the homes and livelihoods of not only fellow artists but also of their support structure of crew, publicists, marketing teams and of their collaborators, producers, recording and mastering engineers.

Digging into their own archives for unheard gems, they decided to reach out to like minded artists for their own contributions, and the response was overwhelming!

Nick Cave, PJ Harvey with Danni Bensi and Saunder Jurrains, Jarvis Cocker, Danny Elfman, Gary Numan, and Primal Scream are just some of the artists that quickly jumped on board to donate unreleased songs for the cause.

All proceeds from the compilation will go to SWEET RELIEF and will be sold exclusively via Bandcamp.

SWEET RELIEF MUSICIANS FUND is a nonprofit organization that provides financial assistance to career musicians and music industry professional’s, who face financial hardships caused by unexpected life altering circumstances.

The art is a donation from Studio Number One, with art by Christian Scott, and direction by Shepard Fairey.

Don Phüry donated the Bandcamp layout and publicity assets.

Judy Miller Silverman from Motormouth Media donated all the PR services.

My most fragile nature
whispers to me
to remind me of my presence.

There is solitude in my sorrow
that isolates me, pulls me from the overture of an embrace, or an invitation to comfort.

I’ve forgotten how to see, how to listen, how to take in aroma without reflection, without memories of how a fire can ride wind, how flame can devour a home, and all it’s beautiful secrets, how dust can be a remnant of a wall, or ashes the shape of a book, and water toxic even to itself.

I’m uncertain.
I’m numb and naive.
I’m still here, but so adrift, so distant.
