To celebrate Milieu's 20th anniversary, a number of retrospectives have been carefully curated and arranged. Following 2014's ten-year "beginner's guide" Butcher Block Andromeda 3xCD set is a second 3xCD volume, collecting material from 2014-2024.

The Sunbather's collections were developed following the first Butcher Block as supplemental sets, published at Touched UK in limited runs that went out of print almost immediately in 2019 and 2021. They appended Butcher Block with music that I felt was still notable, but wasn't able to be included, for one reason or another - and so it follows that with the publishing of Butcher Block Vol. 2, a third volume of Sunbather's Pharmacopeia has materialized too.

Butcher Block 2's three sides are color-coded to follow Byrne's beautiful edition of the first six books of Euclid - red, yellow and blue - so although Sunbather's 3 has been issued ahead of Butcher Block 2, it remains Butcher Block 2's unspoken fourth "green" side, collecting a varied array of cuts that run through the many shades of Milieu albums published in the last ten years.

Of the fourteen tracks offered here, only one is previously unreleased: "Autufugue" - a two-minute vignette of solo analog monosynth, overlaid via four-track tape machine, recorded during the extensive sessions for a video game soundtrack that *should* finally see a public release this year. Aside from this, some tracks may be new to many of you, such as "Into" - a sprawling psychedelic dance cut from the High in the Middle album, which remains an exclusive release for the Milieu Music Fan Club at Patreon - or "Burnt Violet," a compilation cut plucked from the final release at I, Absentee.

Altogether, Sunbather's 3 is a vibrant collection of Milieu material that hopefully lands just in time for the Summer warmth creeping in at the end of Spring. Once again, gratitude is owed to Rudolf Kremers, who provides the fantastic photography on the cover, and to you, Constant Listener, for being on the path with me this whole time. It's been a crazy twenty years, and I quite literally could not have done this without you.
