The story of Lykathea Aflame began in 1999 when the original band name Appalling Spawn was dropped. The band had already reached certain success under the name Appalling Spawn but we didn’t want to continue composing music and writing lyrics under that name anymore. As a consequence of our inner spiritual evolution we felt that we wanted to connect our work with the positive part of Universe and with Light.

Lykathea Aflame means the purifying process of disengaging and breaking away from what we are not, from what we do not want to emit, express and create. Elvenefris means Home, so reaching the purpose and goal of our spiritual journey.

“With thoughts of concept and structure of Elvenefris songs I woke up and fell asleep every day and it filled every spare moment I had. I wrote lyrics predominantly in the dead of night in states of specific and hardly describable states of heart and soul,” states the guitarist Petr "Ptoe" Tománek.

Back in 1999 we had to say goodbye to our previous drummer Gabriel because of his uncontrollable troubles with alcohol. Fortunately Tomas Corn (ex Garbage disposal) was just moving to Prague and joined us in no time. I was glad because I longed for the fastest drumming possible with great technique … and that was him. I had already several songs for Elvenefris under construction so we immediately started working on them.

We rehearsed at music club Inferno that became our so called “home club” where we held regular death-grind concerts. Inferno unfortunately ceased to flourish after some time so we had to move and finish the preparation of Elvenefris in several rehearsal rooms situated in old factory halls.

In studio I arranged keyboard parts with Pavel Marcel (Kaviar kavalier, Necrocock) who just worked there as a sound engineer. Recording in studio took us one month. Elvenefris was recorded in Hostivar studio in Prague during summer of 2000 and released by Obscene productions. Afterwards it got incredibly positive responses and reviews from all over the world, highest ratings and got many first or one of the first places in metal charts and was as well nominated for the Czech Grammy in Hard music category.
