OvO release new EP Densità, out on October 2nd, 2026 on Artoffact Records

The mass of a substance that has always defied classification — the volume it occupies, but also the one of the sound’s power. Densità (Density, in English) is the new EP by OvO, set for release on October 2, 2026 on all digital platforms via Artoffact Records, and upcoming in 2027 as a 7″ tour exclusive on Subsound Records.

Densità arrives exactly one year after the release of Gemma — the eleventh studio album by OvO, a band already legendary in the vast landscape of noise rock, industrial metal, and avant-doom, celebrating their twenty-five years of activity. Gemma was an act of electro-metal creation defined by perpetual reinvention — a manifesto of transformation praised by influential international media such as “The Wire” and “The Guardian”.

The three tracks on this new EP were recorded during the same sessions of Gemma but they immediately stood apart as a distinct entity. While the imagery remains steeped in alchemical themes, the sound possesses the driving energy typical of 90s alt-rock, recalling bands such as Sonic Youth, Drive Like Jehu, and Man Or Astro-man?.

It is a vein that has always been present in the Italian duo’s discography but here it takes on fresh nuances. The power of the percussions and the modernity of the electronics — played by Bruno Dorella (Bachi da Pietra, Ronin, Sigillum S) — combine with the sharp, enigmatic allure of Stefania Pedretti’s (Alos) guitars, rendered almost “synth-like” through the use of new pedals, alongside of course her unmistakable, shamanic, and universal voice.

The EP artwork was created by Fabrice Lavollay, a prolific Belgian illustrator near to the music scene with posters realized for the mythical Brussels club Magasin 4 or for bands such as Napalm Death and Eyehategod, as well as album covers for Bethlehem, Earthburner, and Infected.

Based in Ravenna, Italy, OvO was formed in 2000 by Stefania Pedretti and Bruno Dorella, and to date have released nine albums. OvO has been featured in The Quietus, Stereogum, Cvlt Nation, and many more forward-thinking web properties. The band has performed at festivals on nearly every continent, and have toured extensively, with the likes of Lightning Bolt, Zu, and many others.
