Bedlam in the Badlands is an album that weaves the listener in and out of a world of contrast between dark americana, early folk influences, gothic blues and dirge psyche- rock. The songs range from lush atmospherics to minimalist compositions with stark, rustic storytelling. It finds the beauty in a world where darkness is rising to the surface to be witnessed and challenged. The tone is set within an apocalyptic landscape, ultimately finding peace within the chaos.
What I love about this album is that it's very western infused with elements of psych, desert rock, and gothic Americana in a really beautiful way. It's easy for a lot of bands to make a cheap pastiche of these genres, but Palodine does it in a way that feels very sincere and the music is taking you on a journey somewhere. The singer reminds me of Dorothea Cotrell's solo work and these artists sit in a similar world even though the music is quite different. Palodine is a two peice band which makes them even more laser focused on their musical vision. -The struggling artist podcast
Palodine has been described as "a melancholic, yet intense and powerful experience". Band members Katrina Whitney (vocals, percussion) and Michael Aryn (guitars, multi-instumentalist) formed in 2007 in Seattle WA.
