Bristol-based producer Phaeleh makes a powerful return this autumn with not one but two dynamic new EPs, promising to reignite the dancefloor and stir the soul. The first of these releases, Tempest, offers a masterful blend of deep, bass-heavy sounds with a clear homage to the roots of early UK dubstep.

Tempest opens with the electrifying track "Lacuna," where uplifting analog synths and saturated subs are meticulously crafted to dominate the soundsystem. However, true to Phaeleh’s signature style, the track’s soulful atmospherics and emotional depth ensure a rich listening experience on headphones too.

The title track "Tempest" shifts gears, channelling the raw energy of the rave era with its stabs, rolling percussion, and intricate breakbeats. This track is a sonic journey that bridges the past and present, creating a vibe that’s both nostalgic and refreshingly current.

The EP takes a darker turn with "Dark Descent," a track that harks back to Phaeleh’s earlier, more brooding releases. Here, mystical flutes, pizzicato synths, and distorted basslines weave together a hypnotic groove, bound to push soundsystems to their very limits.

Closing out the EP, "Ithaca Dub" delivers a powerful fusion of heavyweight subs, lush guitar riffs, and unmistakable dub influences. Swirling synth stabs and immersive atmospherics make this track equally suited for blissful introspection or full-throttle skanking on the dancefloor.

Following Tempest, the upcoming Floaty EP, promises deeper sonic landscapes and immersive sounds to look forward to.

Since his debut release in 2008, Phaeleh aka Matt Preston has developed an inimitable style of cinematic electronic music, which floats between the shifting tempos and timbres of dubstep, garage, electronica and house music. Phaeleh’s last three epic releases have cemented his position as one of the most exciting and consistent producers to emerge from his current hometown, Bristol.
