In January 1982, Polyphonic Size entered a Brussels studio to record its first album. At this point, the band line-up was : Roger-Marc Vande Voorde (vocals, keyboards and guitar), Martine Bourlée (vocals), France Lhermitte (vocals), Kloot Per W (bass) and Dominique Buxin (lyrics). Several special guests also appeared on this LP (see credits below). It was released in September 1982, under two different picture sleeves. Belgian pressing (Sandwich records) used the Goya painting. French pressing (New Rose) was a yellow cut-off square, inspired by Lucio Fontana's work.
Live For Each Moment / Vivre Pour Chaque Instant got very good reviews and is still considered as Polyphonic Size best record. It was also the culmination of the artistic collaboration between Roger-Marc and JJ Burnel, which started with Nagasaki Mon Amour, a couple of years before. But beyond music, their 1978 meeting backstage at a Stranglers concert was the start of a real friendship. Several decades later, when PS will reform and be back on stage, JJ will be there and sing again with the band.

JJ Burnel produced this album. He also sang lead vocals on Winston & Julia and Je T'ai Toujours Aimée. Two of the best Polyphonic Size songs ever.

Winston & Julia :
Dominique Buxin : "1984 is a book every human being should read if he wants to know the reality of the power above us. The lyrics are a summary of the book. It sounded obvious I should write them in english. Jean-Jacques' voice fits perfectly with the lyrics and the atmosphere of the song."

Roger-Marc : "We did several takes before, but we couldn't make it. So JJ said : can I try ? And it was really perfect, we kept it just as he did. And JJ said : are you sure ? and we said oh yes yes yes yes !"

Je T'ai Toujours Aimée
Dominique Buxin : "I wrote this song one Sunday morning, in some building in Düren, Germany. As soon as I found the basic structure of the song (the very first verse), I knew I had something. And then, the whole song came very easily. I probably had it in my mind for quite a long time, because, most of the time, I keep the song in my mind, before writing anything. Most PS fans consider it as one of their favorite songs ever. It was also covered by Dominique A."

Roger-Marc : "We recorded this song in a couple of hours. We were just finishing the album, and had about a half day studio left. And Michel Lambot (Sandwich records) hit the place and said :“ Hey guys, there's something wrong, do we only have 8 songs here ? That's not enough, that's one song missing“ ! So JJ opened Dominique Buxin's notebook… He was very prolific and had always some lyrics left. JJ chose this one. He did the lead vocals and played bass as well".

Polyphonic Size is an electronic rock concept founded in Brussels in 1979 by Roger-Marc Vande Voorde. Most records were produced by JJ Burnel (Stranglers). Dominique Buxin wrote almost all the lyrics. After many line-up changes, 3 LP and about 20 singles, PS temporarily vanished in 1991, then came back in 2010. New material was written and recorded. And it's not over. Concepts never die.
