South London producer Palmistry (aka Benjy Keating) responsable for TRIAD GOD's (Hippos in Tanks) production and music, fresh from a collaboration with James Ferraro and a single out on MixPak join in with Presto!? on this amazing work that moves between hermetic sometimes hyper-minimalistic R&B rips, fine ambient tones and 'dancehall' overtures on low freq domain.

The EP's title track, Lil Gem, is a very emotive instrumental song which defies any obvious classification. The melodies and arpeggios are almost J-RPG-esque, the deep toms and claps give it a stoned rhythm, and the operatic samples are so expertly woven into the composition - which is pretty minimalist, really - that you don't even notice what a weird piece of sampling it is. Whatever it is, it's a belter.
