Eight-Bit Regions travels through the whirring, clicking, sighing, and ultimately broken audio buffers of The Harvestman Tyme Sefari modules.

From gentle pulsing waves of low resolution sine waves and colored noise, to harsh blind format switching distortion, the Tyme Sefari MKI and MKII work together to provide a different approach to audio looping. Recording time is limited, fidelity is decidedly “old school”, but the constantly sliding loop points, combined with the gate controlled circuit bending, make it an interesting path to wander through.

All tracks are live improvisations recorded throughout 2023 direct to a 4MS WAV Recorder. The general approach is a simple one oscillator voice into the Tyme Sefaris, with control of loop start/stop and bending from a Harvestman Zorlon Cannon MKII combined with much operator “wiggling”. Occasional intertwining of Fancyyyy Rung Divisions for Tyme Sefari control and Pladask DRADD for granular time loop accumulation on synth voice. Reverbs from Tasty Chips ECR+ and Happy Nerding FX Aid. Granular scrub percussion on track 5 from Pladask DRADD. Minimalist percussion on track 6 from Folktek Matter MKI and SSF Entity Percussion Synthesizer, with noise swells courtesy of Blukac Endless Processor. Level adjustment and minor edits for dead spots in Audacity.

Works in numerous modes of looping and modular electronics, through live improvisations using delay, granular, low-res sampling and west coast electronics within a eurorack modular ecosystem.
