Soma welcomes a special label debut for the shadowy Skjöld as he drops the Elliptical EP. After appearing on Slam’s ‘Exhibit’ series with a singular track, Skjöld drops 4 uniquely deep and minimalistic tracks with this full EP. Keeping the project under a veil of anonymity, preferring to let the music do the talking, Skjöld is able to delve deep into space like atmospherics and deep, trippy rhythms.

Annulus opens the EP with solid rhythmical elements defining the tone of the track as warping synths grow and meld together giving a sinister resonance throughout. Perigee delivers on more hypnotic and space age elements with cavernous, reverberated percussion gives depth to glacial pads and radio signals directed to deep space. Omens is a stripped yet direct affair with pulsating, rhythmical synths creating the atmospheres and rapid yet restrained percussion creating the drive. Path of Tonality closes out the release with more musical elements playing a direct part, all still kept within the realms of Skjöld’s minimalistic palette.
