Formed in 2011 by five close friends, Surroundings are a melodic hardcore metal/band from Perth, Western Australia. Fuelled by a passion to create refreshing music within the genre, Surroundings have crafted a unique blend of heavy guitar work and ambience not too dissimilar from the world of post-rock.

Having worked on their debut album for the last couple of years, 'Of Bane, Burden & Change' summarises a fresh outlook on life and the journey of emotional struggle, recapping the importance that a positive influence can have on life's route and the need to follow your happiness to achieve fulfilment.

Following the success of 2014’s debut album “Of Bane Burden & Change” Surroundings spent most of 2015 in search of two new members to develop their unique take on modern heavy music - one unafraid to draw influence from forgotten or unfashionable styles to make its point. The new lineup is their strongest yet, and the new single “Elizabeth” is the perfect showcase.
