Parallel Lines by The Duke And The Dauphin is the result of five days of coffee, bible reading, excessive cursing & nostalgia trips. It's a strange collection, ranging from ethereal folk to religious recitals to doomed love ballads. It's a twisted bundle but its intentions are sincere.

Or, as Jeffrey would put it: "This is a culmination of what happens when two people at similar places in life go utterly insane at the same time, and try to express that insanity in the only ways they each know how. Acknowledgement of influence must be given to Mark Twain, Ramon Lopez Velarde, Coors Light, the book of Ecclesiastes, coffee, cigarettes, friendship, confusion, insomnia, and tasteless jokes."

On December 2nd, 2012, upon realizing that my close friend Jeffrey was leaving East County San Diego for San Fransisco in five days, we decided it would be a good idea to try writing and recording five songs, one for each day he was here, over at Rancho Bohemia studios. It was an ambitious experiment but worth a shot, given our usual habits were pretty much limited to watching the Maury show and/or drinking heavily at the time. We spent five solid full-day sessions in Rancho Bohemia studios in Lakeside. Jeffrey would provide words and I would write music to it. We finished it up on December 7th, and Jeffrey left that very day, not hours after the last session.

The rest of the month was spent doing some minor touch ups, mastering, and getting some artwork. And our close friend Shannon gave us permission to use her awesome, awesome stuff. (more found here: http://shannonstovall.tumblr.com/#about)
