Originally released in 1979, Beatlesque melodies abound on a record that sounds anything but lo-fi.

"This excellent reissue of the Toms' self-titled 1979 debut adds seven unissued tracks alongside such sparkling pop gems as 'Let's Be Friends Again,' 'Other Boys Do' and 'It's Needless'; a minor classic of the power pop genre, the album deserves its rightful place next to the work of the Shoes, 20/20, and the Beat." -- Jason Ankeny, AllMusic

"Anyone who already likes Shoes should immediately pursue The Toms, the home-recording project of commercial songwriter/producer Tommy Marolda; his 1979 LP rivals Black Vinyl Shoes as the most accomplished basement power-pop album of the ’70s." -- Noel Murray, The AV Club

"One of the finest slabs of D.I.Y. pop bliss ever, friends." -- John Borack, Shake Some Action: the Ultimate Guide to Power Pop

The Toms is the solo project of producer, songwriter, and singer Tommy Marolda, who played all of the instruments on his self-titled debut. Recorded in his home studio over a single weekend. The album became a much sought-after cult classic in the power pop genre. Since then, Marolda has been nominated for a Grammy as songwriter and music producer.
