A LONG WINTER’S debut Tribunal Records release, “I’m So Bad With Goodbyes,” has done absolutely nothing but win over both critics and fans alike. With melodious hardcore now becoming an extremely popular genre among the kids, we thought it would please their fans to make the original recordings that got A LONG WINTER signed to Tribunal available once again. Originally, “Breathing Underwater” was a demo sold only at shows. We have re-mastered the original recordings and given it a proper layout for national release.

Unlike the mature and well-defined songs on “I’m So Bad With Goodbyes” the tracks featured on “Breathing Underwater” represent a young band in their formative/experimental stages, but we still feel strongly that these tracks are great compositions in their own right, and were simply an indicator of where A LONG WINTER were to wind up. The interplay between the styles of Dave Stahl (harsh) and Owen Staszewski’s (melodic) vocals were there, and impressive to say the least, as they were one of the main factors that lead us to sign the band.

Something else that impressed us were the more defined rock styles of “Portrait Hung In Empty Halls” and “Just One Kiss” which was something not to be represented in their newer material. All in all, “Breathing Underwater” is a must-have release for any current A LONG WINTER fan, and for anyone who enjoys the music of Poison The Well, Hopesfall and Grade.
