Time has always been a well of inspiration for worriedaboutsatan albums, especially recently. The Future Can Wait marks the 18th record for the band, now in its 19th year, and 2025 sees myself turn a mighty 42, meaning this band has been most of my adult life.

The Future Can Wait draws on this, as well as more existential themes of sitting silently and watching the world descend into a dystopia. Instead of doom scrolling, I decided to do the only thing I know how: make another album.

‘What Exactly Is A Dream?’ and ‘La Mouche’ take the template of cosmic, arp-heavy electronica as pioneered by the likes of Tangerine Dream, and warp it with a particular northern English eccentricity to create some of the most engaging work the ‘satan name has been attached to. ‘America Will Continue Until Morale Improves’ breaks up the record with a beautiful, broken guitar ambient sound which drifts until it implodes. Apt!
