If I could go back and tell my younger self one thing it would be: “Don’t worry, everything is going to be alright. You are going to survive. You are going to thrive. I know it seems like there is no light at the end of the tunnel right now, but you have to trust me. You are going to start a beautiful family, you are going to be a master at your craft and have a respectable career. Your Wife and Son will be your best friends. You are going to be HAPPY”

I probably wouldn’t have believed my future self. Even though I never wanted for anything in my life, it still has been filled with tremendous peaks and valleys. Moments of despair that turned into moments of triumph.

Hip-hop truly saved my life. It took me off of the streets and it gave me an outlet to express myself. I no longer had to hold in the pain (or the joy). Music has provided me the therapy I needed and need. Everyday I am able to unload, get things off my chest and face my demons head on. I laugh, I cry and allow myself to go through all the emotions in my art. It makes me whole again.

So, what you are witnessing simply is: Therapy in Real Time. This is what healing looks like. Making this album was really full circle for me. T.A.Z has always had a special place in my heart, knowing his history behind the scenes and in the Bay Hip-hop community. This man deserves his flowers. He has dedicated years of time and energy, strictly for the Culture. It’s an honor to have hime produce an entire body of work for me.
