"Hard Call" is for the people who still show up to see their favorite band after a bad breakup. It’s for the people who would rather scream along with a room full of people than cry at home. It’s for people who need that energy, the breakdowns, the guitar solos, to remind them there’s still life to live in front of them.

“Hard Call” is a song about moving on disguised as a breakup song. Over the past few years, there’ve been so many difficult decisions, whether it’s the band’s schedule, the Eaton Fire, or the state of the world. I think we’ve all had to develop the skill of making a decision and living with it, which isn’t necessarily a fun skill to exercise, but such an important one.

These feelings came out in “Hard Call” in a breakup song, one of those times when we knew we had to make the right move, but didn’t feel good at all. It fit with the music really well, because the instrumental is obviously upbeat and exciting, but it’s got this longing undertone. Those kind of complex feelings are usually what drive us to make music, and filling a room of people who need to process those complex emotions together is why we release it as Good Terms.
