The follow up to 2019’s Star Creature x Mirlaqi Système debut which despite being 5 years old saw a big uptick this year after being championed by Green Velvet both in his life sets and via his official Spotify Track ID playlist. This lead to Geneva’s Mirlaqi paying a visit to Star Creature’s HQ in Chicago during the early summer of 2024. Label-head Tim Zawada and Mirlaqi aka Timour Nigolian spent a few days chopping it up about music, hitting record stores, club nights, loft parties as well as some crucial beach-side studio link ups with a few Chicago and Detroit players.

Inspired by a wider vision of life, Mirlaqi offers two deep-jazz, broken beat soulful vocal gems. The first tune, “Origins”, offers a percussive groove fueled with synth chords and melodies. A cavernous musical journey with layers of textures, rhythms and lyrics that delivers a fresh sound that builds on each listen. Track 2 - Ocean, a deeper piano house cut with an upright bass bop. Key lines wash over waves of building synth pads lifts up and blast offs into a dancefloor fever dream. The two remixes feature as a complimentary dessert of this soulful slab. First up is Lay-Far with a smacking Piano-Rave Remix delivering a breaks on breaks for the peak-hour younger set. Next up Saine hits us with a beatdown slugger with a dark and rolling bassline and light dusting of piano and pads. The result is an audio root beer float on a hot summers night.
